Valve fucked me over...

Recommended Posts

So recently I've just found out that valve (or somone pretending to be valve) has stolen about 500 dollars from my family. All this because, after buying a game, I left the credit card number stored in my account. Anyone know what the fuck happened? And is there anyway to get that 500 dollars back?

Btw, the transactions don't appear in store transactions

Edit: called the bank and everything should be just fine.

Even when stored in your account, they can't see the whole credit card number. You probably have a virus with a keylogger, and or someone has your account info.

Either way its your fault completely and these things can be easily prevented.

Its your job to take care of your info, not Valve's. If you browse safely, then you shouldn't have a problem. If you don't know what safe browsing is, or how to avoid getting a virus, then it's really your fault. And if you purchased through steam, then it's a virus on your computer bro.

How do you know it was valve? Someone could have gotten your credit card information countless other ways, unless you use that credit card only for games (which I highly doubt).

I probably fucked up somewhere and I don't remember, so i deserve it. Anyways I should get back that 500$ because i have proof they weren't my purchases. Just goes to show: never store your credit card information anywhere on the internet.

Kill kaspersky, I honestly don't trust that shit. I've been using Windows Security Essentials for years and it catches everything, without bogus viruses/alerts/begging to upgrade. Give it a try and see if it finds anything that may have contributed to your delinquent account. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

Cuz on the bank transaction thing it says Valve, so it has to have passed through steam atleast.

That just means someone could have gotten your credit card information and used it to purchase a Steam game, which is really dumb and they'll probably get caught. Either way you probably want to cancel that card.

FTFY. A company the size of ValvE isn't robbing people and getting away with it. ValvE didn't fuck you over. Contact your bank, this kind of fraud is more common than it should be and getting the money back shouldn't be impossible.

Valve did fuck me over... by not taking care of *my* personal information

Yeah, I'm sure someone totally hacked into ValvE's customer info, found yours specifically, and took it.

your personal information is your responsibility. where you put it is your choice. valve isn't going to do jack unless you can prove some one hacked their system to get your information.

other wise, talk to your bank and tell them some one fraudulently used your credit card. most likely they will give you your money.

Before I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials I used to use an earlier version of Kaspersky.  I personally found it to be a great program, very little false positives, and always kept my system clean.  Can't speak for the newer version, but it was amazing before.

MSE, AVG, Kaspersky, Nod32... They are all good AV programs

It's not their fault. Like what drug said, if it were hacked, a lot more people would have been affected.
