A few discussion point thingies I guess

I'm gonna open up this little discussion about a few things that really rustle all of my jimmies, and some gameplay stuff idfk wtf ever

First topic first: people calling out others BEFORE the round starts. It's all completely innocent, blah blah blah. I mean, how could that be harmful at all? Well, I'll tell you. Some people are blatant idiots, and can't differentiate the difference between preround and actual round. Not only do people get RDMed, but this shit's contagious. I was on the server today (masquerading as THE END, for anyone who's seen me), and it went from lighthearted fun to revenge RDMing every god damn round. It's kind of pathetic at that point, for obvious reasons.

Second topic being on the power of the Boomstick. Here's a little thing everyone likes to argue about. Half of the server thinks it's OP as hell, and half think it should stay the way it is because it's a detective weapon. Personally, I want it to stay somewhat powerful, but not be the instant kill (even with armor) that it is. There are a few ways to go about it that I've thought about. One rather simple method is by changing the Boomstick's ammo type to something unreplacable, I.E. SLAM ammo or crossbow ammo, or something. Another way is to reduce damage by quite a bit, but either add distortion like the UMP or a rather large knockback on target. The fact a traitor can go 14:0 on office because a detective dropped their Boomstick is a bit ridiculous, since it's powerful only because it's a detective weapon.

2) this has been talked about, and it will not change, the gun is not op it is very easy to kill someone who has a boom stick. Also stating that "IT ALWAYS INSTA KILLS ME" does not make it op, it just means you are fucking stupid.

On the second part, being a belligerent dick doesn't help you prove any sort of idea. I'm not saying "it always instakills me," but instead that it can completely destroy someone wearing full armor with full health (there isn't even the word "me" in the second paragraph). Can you at least try to argue in a way that makes a bit of sense?

EDIT -- "wearing full armor with full health" without a headshot, or aiming.

ok then here is a serious answer for two questions which have been answered more than once before

1) No one cares if you call someone out before the round starts, the game has not started and there is no harm done, anyone killed because of those call outs is an rdm, not to the person who called him out but the person who killed him.

2) my statement still stands and i am talking in general with people who thinks charging into a detective with a fucking bat while he has a boomstick will lead to the detectives death. I will add more by telling you that it is not difficult to kill someone with a boomstick if you know how to not stand within 10 ft of him.

Oh and "completely destroy someone" and "instakill" is another redundant statement.

To address both of these posts in order, staring with Spartan,

1. The reason I'm bitching about it is because RDM happens. The fact that RDM happens because of pre-round callouts means that it's a preventable thing, for god's sakes. It's not too hard to grasp.

2. The Boomstick has range. Really decent range. Range enough to kill someone from around 100 feet away, with a few shells. If every map was like Crummycradle, I'd be perfectly fine with that gun. Unfortunately, they aren't. A very large amount of maps have extensive indoor areas including (but not limited to):

Assault, Italy, Militia, Office, Westwood (bit of a stretch), 67th way, Casino, Cloverfield, Clue, Island, Lost_temple, Nipperhouse (the entire map is small enough with only one "ranged" stretch from T spawn), Vessel, Roy the ship, and Whitehouse. I don't even remember the rest of the maps, but almost all of them are ~80% completely indoors.

Also, stop trying to call me out on my grammar. It doesn't disprove any arguments and makes it seem like you have nothing to come at me from.

Not only that but there is such a thing as killing a detective without the detective knowing you are a traitor, whole point of the game is to try to kill everyone without them knowing you are a traitor.

Differentiating differences means you recognize differences, which makes you the ignorant one. Moving on,

This is a logical fallacy, though I'm sure you don't really care. I never said this, insinuated this, or even mentioned this in passing. The point of pre-round is to do something that doesn't affect the actual game, but my point is that it does affect the actual game. Be silly all you want. If it gets someone killed because of it and ruins their round, then you need some fucking consequence.

I agree, but there's a fundamental difference between "always instakills someone" rather than "always instakills me," which is doesn't. It's pointing out something else. I feel like I'm arguing with a brick wall. If anyone else has some input, that would be fantastic.

I don't give a shit if someone is stupid enough to kill someone after round starts for pre-round call outs, I just slay them next round.

As for the boomstick seems like it's the go-to for Detectives who can't aim for a shit and need something to combat traitors effectively.

I personally prefer the AWP only because I can aim with the thing and it's pretty reliable for me.

I see a Detective with a boomstick I shoot them in the head or tackle them from a distance, it doesn't take much for the damage resulting from boomshots to go way down.

As for traitors picking up a boomstick it's a reward for killing or finding the damn thing. Getting 10+ kills in a round is just good traitor-ing.

All in all it's just going to be something continually argued about and highly likely nothing will be done about it.

Anyways.

1. I think that the first post is a valid complaint, and something that can be taken up with an admin on the server or you could ask them to stop over the mic (but that usually has the opposite effect). This isn't really an issue that can be fixed any other way, and I'd say that very few people get rdm'd cause of it. Not much that can be done, and adding rules usually isn't the way to go.

2. Boomstick is a weapon that just needs to be strategically approached. If you are a traitor, focus on the detectives first. Either kill with a bat or shoot from long range where the boomstick is shit. Only an idiot would try to beat a det. in close range with a gun anyways. If the boomstick gets nerfed everyone will use the awp again and their will be more complaints.

Pre round callout rdming or whatever you want to refer to it as, is usually a joke, if it annoys you complain to the admin at hand and we will deal with it.

As for the boomstick, like dadpoob said approach it strategically. Lure them into the open, hit with bat, win.
