Need Some Good Headphones

Recommended Posts

Anyone know a good headset I can get for ~$20? For some reason my headset now emits a loud whining noise whenever I try to chat with it, and need another. On a side note, anyone know why my headset suddenly stopped working? Its usb, and while I can still hear sound out of the headset, the buttons on it no longer work. I've got a Plantronics .Audio 510. On the off chance it could be repaired, it is a lot of money for me at the moment to get a new pair.

Dude... Just pick up a cheap-o standing microphone and run everything through your speakers...

Yeah, cheap headphones are no better than cheap speakers. The only headphones I've ever been happy with are $100.

If you don't want to spend a lot on expensive headphones. I prefer nice headphones to a nice surround sound setup. I have a pair of Turtle Beach 5.1 Dolby surround sound headphones. I can hear even the subtlest nuances of everything that is going on around me. I can hear footsteps from so far around corners that it's practically like I am using walls. A surround sound setup that nice would be a lot more than these headphones were too.

I used to have those too, but I hated them. I have a massive noggin and big, sensitive ears though. Even the ones I have now I had to stretch them out a couple of inches or they would hurt and the speakers were practically in my ears.

I have these and they work nice. They hurt for a little bit getting use to them like most head sets but these are worth every penny

Hmm, does the back adjust at all, I'd be a bit worried that I'd buy them and then my fat head would be too fat.

Problem is that I don't have speakers, I live in a dorm and stay up playing to the wee hours of the morn, my roomate would kill me if I used speakers.

In the end I think I'm just going to end up ordering these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826106069.

They don't adjust, they sit behind your head, like on me, the back rests on the back of my neck. Same reason I don't have speakers is because I don't want people hearing the shit in game lol. We say some fucked up shit

Otherwise, if you don't mind clip-phones:

(they're the same as the above, just with a different attachment method)

They're arguably the best sub-$50 headphones on the market(from audiophiles, not some random on the street corner).

I've got the first of the two and <3 them to death, and won't use different headphones until I upgrade to Grado SR-80's.

It's not a headset, but that's what a $3 desk mic is for.

Ya that second one there was the one I was looking into getting. So far it has a lot of good reviews, the ones D&G suggested didn't fair so well in ratings.

I have the first one that Waylon listed - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826106931

They're actually really good.

I got mine off eBay for $13, refurbished though =/.

I'd recommend it, the way the mic stays in place is awesome.

The speakers are really loud as well, footsteps can be heard far away in CSS from my own experience using them.

They look kinda cheap to me, maybe they're not, but I'd rather not risk it.

Good mic quality is just as important as good sound quality, plus I honestly don't have much desk space for a mic stand, and prefer not to glue something to my monitor.

I think the final solution that is going to end up happening here is that I contacted the Plantronics support people, and my headset is still under warranty, so I'm just going to have them replace it for me. Either that or I might just shell out $20 and get these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826106069.
