Why wouldn't there be? There are multiple embassies of countries from around the world currently set up in Libya.

He was sent to a country with which we have diplomatic relations and during his time over there he asked for more security but was denied. He never asked before hand for more security, only when he felt that it wasn't safe enough for himself and his fellow workers at the embassy.

Edit: Forgot to mention, majority of the embassies in Libya have now closed after the terrorist attacks. I don't know if any are open right now but I believe the majority, if not all, are shut down.

Edit2: From what I would gather his reason to be there would be for helping the formation of a democratic government, which doesn't seem to be going so well since the whole country is in a state of turmoil.

I just wanted to share this fun thing I saw on facebook. I had a friend who said that because Obama was using "Forward" as his slogan, he was a communist because soviets did that too. I rebutted, and his wife went off the deep end.

The policies of this administrations have killed small business.How do we know because YOU own a small business that services small business (not just a feeling or an opinions but a fact). In the 2008 vp debate, Biden said that the Obama administration supported constitutional equality of all couples, but did not support the change of the definition of marriage. I don't know what he has done, really, to support gay marriage; but, I'm fairly disconnected from politics, current events and anything outside my immediate life.
