Marvin 1296 Posted June 19, 2012 I'm not pro at this or anything but the Sabertooth is a LGA 1155 socket, and your processor is a LGA 2011. They might not work together Good choice though, I'm getting the Sabretooth with a i7 2600k.

JFK 546 Posted June 19, 2012 If you're getting an LGA 1155 motherboard, only going to game, and want to save money, then I would replace the CPU with aCore i5-3550 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHzhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116505
O.G. 93 Posted June 19, 2012 I like this man, I'm not a huge tech guy, but what separates that i5 model from the i7 that I linked, besides speed?
ZachPL 1754 Posted June 19, 2012 You really wouldn't get full use out of an i7 unless you are doing like video editing or 3d modeling. i5 is all you need for gaming.

That i5 model I listed also uses the Ivy Bridge architecture, which is a generation ahead of the Sandy Bridge. As far as I'm aware, there's no reason to choose a Sandy Bridge over an Ivy Bridge. Zan 14 Posted June 19, 2012 Amazon links for computer parts.. This saddens me.On topic: I agree with them, you really wouldn't need an i7. Unless, that is, you are trying to make your computer a beast. That motherboard is sexy.
O.G. 93 Posted June 19, 2012 So, how big of a power supply would you recommend?
MOFLSTOMP 899 Posted June 19, 2012 I'd personally stay away from the Sabertooth motherboard. Pick up a decent Gigabyte, ASRock, or even a P8Z77-PRO board instead. Also, don't bother getting the Xonar DG sound card if you're getting a brand-new motherboard. Generally speaking, onboard sound is much better than add-on cards until you get to the $100+ range. Plus, you have to take into consideration whether the card has an amplifier if you've got higher-end speakers/headphones/headset with a higher impedance than the standard 32ohms, a possible DAC, required rear audio ports, and interference from other system components.TL;DR - Don't bother with sound unless it's either busted, or you've got $100+ to spend on a card that'll power a $200+ headset you already have 2 1 Lvl. 100 Latias, ZachPL and Gerald reacted to this
Zan 14 Posted June 19, 2012 So, how big of a power supply would you recommend? That depends. Are you concerned about efficiency?Do you plan on adding more to this system in the future? What's the budget?I'd say just stay above 750 watts and you should be fine.
