cs:s is only still alive because of mods

vanilla servers are only still around because of competetive cs or custom maps

probably not worth the time

edit: i have a gungame server that i never play on because its boring as hell. it gets old spending 10 rounds trying to get off the nade level when some lucky kid pwns 2 nubs with a quick nade/knife and i just spent 20 minutes getting facerolled with no gun.

There are some, say, office and dust maps that are very well populated, but they have huge clans and lots of extra stuff to back them up, and lots of slots. A 24 man or so pub rotation server...man, that will NEVER get populated. And there are more than enough gungames.

A pub serv would be nice, but it'd need to not have such strict settings as before. It was like scrim mode before; was lame. Even with relaxed settings, it'll take a good couple of months before it acquires a regular playerbase.
