You're not expected to get kills as a tank. You're expected to have a large amount of assists though because you're initiating in every teamfight.

not necessarily initiating - some heroes are initiators

but I get your point. That's what I'm saying, I'm not good at having a tank mindset, I'm used to carrying - comes from my fps days playing scope/roamer/slayer
