graphics driver issues. - Ubuntu

alright, so i cant install my graphics drivers. Everytime i do, i get a black screen of nothing on restart. I'm running ubuntu 10.10. here are my graphics cards.

(When i go to install hardware it gives me a driver, but im guessing its an improper driver.)

do i install an inter-graded mother board driver, or a regular one? I just want to utilize my gig of Vram.

That was the same model of laptop I used to use before I got my M14x, and I have no idea what the hell to do, but then again, I didnt use Ubuntu :/

Yeahhh im sorta old, but thats arguable. Y'see started playing mid-2009, took like 6 months to make this forum account, but I only played on-and-off since then, got very active at some points, but it always ended eventually. Now ive finally decided to go srs bsns, cus ive actually got a good comp to play stuff on.

are both my graphics cards onboard/intergraded? because there is a driver for the ATI if it's not intergraded. But will it run correctly if only one of the two graphics cards are enabled?

Unless you upgraded your model im pretty sure its got integrated cards, and pretty garbage ones at that.

well, id like to use my VGA monitor as well as the laptop's. and a gig of VRAM isnt bad, it'll play my gmod perfectly. so i dont mind. But it says it's upgradeable to 2.5gb vram.

ehh, i'll just install win 7 and ubuntu 10.10. dual boot. start from scratch.

i noticed. But linux will be my media and internet, windows can game. As for at home, i'll use my mac for everything. I love linux, but i just wish it would run a little bit better.
