Guitar Guy 25 Posted January 15, 2011 BMI Is an incredibly inaccurate method of determining who is healthy. It does not take into account how weight is distributed - I.E. If you have a lot of muscle it says you're overweight.Body fat time anyone?16% here, still dropping.http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/My BMI is 25.
Goldentongue 3616 Posted January 15, 2011 BMI Is an incredibly inaccurate method of determining who is healthy. It does not take into account how weight is distributed - I.E. If you have a lot of muscle it says you're overweight.I'll repeat my previous statement and elaborate:It's not that bmi isn't useful to know, it's that a simple calculation like this isn't really accurate at all.BMI does paint a good picture of human physique and health, it's just that calculations like this are practically useless. What are good are water submersion "bod-pods", which take into account body volume vs the volume of fat cells and the volume of muscle cells.Doctor given physical exams using calipers on skin folds are also much more accurate at getting a good estimation.Simply weight and height alone mean jack shit when determining BMI.
