Entering status in console

I have a problem,

For some reason, when I type status in the console, absolutely nothing comes up after it. In the recruitment tutorial it says that's what you have to do, and that's what I did. I need someone to either help me out or tell me how to fix the problem.

Did you remember to go into a server ?
