Microphone!

Okay, not too long ago I re-booted my Pc and i've had a small problem. My microphone keeps playing what im listening to, for example, I'll use my mic in vent and if I have a song on, they hear the song, and nothing I say, i'll turn the music off and NADA. I'm not sure what it is and i'm using Realtek HD Audio Manager, and i'm on Windows XP Pro.

chronx is on the right track. if that doesnt do it, keep messing with your sound input/output settings

can you adjust the output volumes? So that your line in is down all the way and the mic (i think its under this option) 3/4 of the way up?

or if all else fails...see if you plugged in your mic into the right sockets

i was thinking that, but i cant remember if plugging your mic into your audio jack actually does that anymore.
