  1. Bae and her idiot frands got me into Supernatural. They were busy splooshing over this young idiot heartthrob

but I actually enjoyed the premise of the show. The two main characters go around hunting monsters, really similar to what Witchers do in the video game series but it's set in the modern day and age. Most episodes start out with them checking out a mysterious unsolvable murder/super grotesque death and I love this Scoobydoo aspect of the show: not who killed the guy but what. I also used to be really interested in folklore & mythology (and by extension mythological creatures) so it was pretty fun in trying to deduce and then recognize what the monster the guys were hunting as they themselves try to figure it out. They end up hunting a huge range of different monsters so it was pretty cool seeing them problem solve each monster's weakness using modern day tech (e.g. sometimes they could use shotguns loaded with salt to end a ghost encounter ezpz, others they gotta research some ancient & long forgotten incantation because thats it's only weakness).

10/10 would recommend, if not just to see Jensen Ackles smile. It's been running since '05 and the 14th season starts next week.

Curated race list (not too many healers or knife races etc)

1 race per player per half (no spam swapping)

A curated race list is fine imo. I do think we should allow racechanging between rounds though. As much of a meme as it is, the game really is balanced towards countering other players' races. If a sensei is causing too much trouble for your team, you swap to dreadknight or bloodseeker. If someone is getting real sweaty is 24-0 with 20 headshots, you swap to Krillin or Nightelf. I wouldn't want someone locking in a knife race then finding a Dreadknight on the other team without being able to swap for half a match, those 15 rounds of hell would ruin the whole tournament for that player imo.

  4. Would be pretty interesting to see the team compositions tbh, especially if races are limited. I don't see an issue with having them not limited though -- our current restrictions are fine enough. 5 Orcs is annoying to deal with but there are tons of other comps that I can think of off the top of my head that could easily beat that.

As for levels, I think it'd be best for them to all be fully leveled races. A fully leveled race tourney vs a lvl 10 only race tourney are two completely different tournaments, entirely different categories imo. The latter would also completely eliminate knife races, since most of them aren't good/playable until they're fully leveled.

  5. Dr Strange foreseeing tons of futures and the only one where they win has StarIdiot literally throwing in the boss fight

I really liked that fight though, in any movie where the good guys fight 2v10 it's usually really five 2v2s while the other bad guys dance around the fight. This fight had a little of that (Thanos pretty much did like 10 bouts of 1v1s, 1v2s) but each superhero's presence and actions were usually accounted for throughout the fight. Pretty neat imo that Dr Strange played the support role in that fight rather than a nuker dps carry.

I like this take of Thanos tbh. It's easier to see where he's coming from when his actions are explained through his past over him simply being crazy/depraved and the producers did a great job at the end imo where we see the aftermath through his eyes. We see a guy who reluctantly just committed mass genocide because he thought it was the right and moral thing to do. Whether it sits right or not with him, we'll only find out in the next movie.

  6. I think there must be a mistake???? Human alliance is in the C-tier section when it should be in the S-tier section.

    Also idk about this

If the average of all players is absurdly higher (like >2 standard deviations), than it's obvious that it's inherently stronger.

Just look at league, kha'zix/rengar are insanely strong by anyone who knows how to play him but the majority don't so they're viewed as "weaker" champions. Hell there was even a season where Lee Sin was sleeper OP and very powerful but noone played him, then Riot buffed him and he dominated for a whole season or two.

  7. I liked the days when everyone would have 6 outta 6 items if you playerinfo'ed them since items were so cheap but at the same time we're only a little bit away from that since cash is given out constantly nowadays as opposed to the considerably less amount back then. I still often find myself swimming in cash overflow enough to by a mask of death+claws+chainmail and still have $10k+ to respawn.

  8. Spoiler

Movie was AWESOME. Director did a great job of pacing the movie with answering unsolved questions while seamlessly advancing the movie's actual plot (Rei's parents brought up in the beginning, finding unclear answers in the middle, full answer at the end, same with Kylo Ren's history), it's honestly a great technical example from a storytelling perspective.

It has a lot of parallel to the older movies but I don't think that's a bad thing. Luke sacrificing himself to Kylo Ren vs Obi Wan to Vader just shows some nice character development because unlike Obi, we actually see what leads him to doing the act. He's still  learning from Obi Wan, even though he's the teacher now. IMO the story has a theme of passing knowledge/leadership on to the next generation and we see it take an extra step further with Obi and Luke here. I like that Luke copies Obi with the "Strike me down..." quote but also adds his own character to it (Everything you just said is wrong). Sassy Luke.

The character development between Rei and Kylo are also p decent. I liked the parallel that they were both abandoned but have a totally opposite outlook on life. The story could've ended after Snoke was killed but their differing viewpoints lead to an inevitable conflict that ends with them fighting. It was honestly p tragic considering that just before they fight, they were both the only ones who truly understood the other (and also just got done fighting back to back with eachother).

I was pogchamping at the kamikaze, holy frick that was some visual eye candy. I'm gonna need a high quality gif of it. Top quality /r/cinemagraph material imo. The 8 speeders making trails of red on snow was also really visually pleasing.

I dislike Snoke's death but only because I HATE it when a sith apprentice kills a master who's obviously stronger than him. Snoke was tossing Kylo around early on and he's obviously got some crazy force strength. Kylo only kills him through deception and a surprise attack, which is common throughout Sith history. I had a whole paragraph here about sith history and lore and ideals and shit but frick, I hate it when a weaker sith becomes Master only through deception. E A R N IT SMOrc.

It was a good death though and certainly plausible, Snoke was audibly orgasming to Kylo's fabricated mental imagery -- he got played. It shows that 1. Kylo is pretty intelligent: he comes up with it on the spot (and keeps that imagery going while the only person he's ever truly connected with is being tortured in front of him) and also knows the character of his Master and 2. He can manipulate people, even his Master. Manipulating is evil. Contrast him to that idiot nazi admiral leader dude, worlds apart.

I disliked the first part of the fight with the royal guards, I actually rolled my eyes because they legit got their choreography from the clay dudes off of the OG power rangers. Literally dancing around when Kylo and Rei were back to back. After they split up though, the action gets much better and Kylo goes crazy with his sword. I didn't think much of Daisy Ridley before this movie but omg her battle shouts were so fierce bro what the heck, that was some 10/10 swordmaiden acting. Those guys sucked as royal guards tho wtf, only scratched Rei in the arm. I fought some weakass Reborns serving Desann in Jedi Academy who put up a better fight than that.

Kylo and Rei each pull a move that I saw on some neckbeard's chart of crazy Jedi swordtricks you can do, which I thought was pretty cool to see choreographed. Rei gets in a clash with a guard who puts his weight on her and she drops her saber, only to spin and slash in a flash cause lightsabers are practically weightless. Kylo pulls the "i'm just gonna activate this sword into ur face k" trick.

I also liked Disney's new adaptations of vibro weapons, first the vibro-sword/baton and now a vibro-whip/sword and detachable twinswords/spear, really nice since lightsabers were the only melee weapons before the 7th movie.

I read a lot of comments not liking the Finn+Rose trip to the casino but I really liked that aspect of it. It dove deeper into the universe and likens the story to a DnD session: most people play the actual campaign but the real fun happens off the main story. Why sit and wait in the cruiser when you can fucking head to a casino, get locked up by the local PD, then escape on the back of a wild stampede and earn some reputation points with the locals? Btw if you take this route you also meet a cool NPC by chance who's really good at hacking. The whole casino arc was entirely unnecessary but I enjoyed the ride.

4.5. Guillermo del toro's character was weird.....His motivations and his connection with Phasma were obviously very poorly planned. Questions of "well how did they really know that finn was going to look for help, and why have a guy waiting on standby looking for rebels to lure in unless it was to be expected, and it what scenario would you -really- have expected that to happen?"

I don't think he planned the betrayal at all, since the entire squad was spotted by a bad-guy-bb8 right after they leave their ship inside. I'm fairly sure they got ambushed and only then did he strike a deal in exchange for freedom + moneys, although I could be wrong. I do agree with Phasma being killed off too fast & easily tho, she seemed super hardcore and badass like Jango and Boba Fett but I guess all of them met a really unfortunate end. I guess we needed a "even badass villains can be beaten if u believe hard enough" moral and she was it.

Oh and the birds are fricken adorable in the campfire scene with Chewy.

I love the idea, but wouldn't this have the same effect that the hero idea had. The better players will be able to have legendaries active more often than shittier players.

It's true that playing more means having more legendaries but I don't think having more will mean much imo, mainly because you're limited to one per race. It's simply a small buff to a race's theme. If anything, I feel like adding the system will maintain a new player's interest in the mod as they'll want to strive for a legendary for themselves once they learn about them.

Balance-wise, I wanted to keep it around the same level as WoW's. It felt good to duel people who had legendaries while not having any yourself and win, especially knowing they have better stats/gear. It's what I prided myself on back when I played.

  10. Hiya guys, thought I'd share an idea that I was hyped about working on. I'm calling it the Legendary system, modeled similarly to World of Warcraft's legendary equipment system. Equipping a Legendary will alter a race in a way slightly, much like an expertise. Unlike expertise though, you can acquire and store a currency called Shards in order to unlock a Legendary and potentially have one unlocked for a race you have at level 0. Each race will have a handful of Legendaries; I'm thinking 3 each for starters. Players are limited to one Legendary item equipped at a time.

The main way of acquiring a Legendary would be simply playing the game: obtaining a kill (higher chance if headshot) or planting/defusing/hostaging/winning the round/healing as Trinity+Holy Paladin+Priest will each have a very small % to obtain a random Legendary. A smaller chance will give you a Shard instead, which will allow you to pick which Legendary you get. Shards could be given away freely every 500 total levels or so. Mabey a present could even drop at a low chance on kill similar to eggs/pumpkins, which yield either a legendary or a Shard. Crazy freeforall rush for the loot!

Here's some quick visuals. The Legendaries menu will be brought up by typing "legendary" into chat, similar to changerace.

    Spoiler

    Dd7x7a9.png

Then, selecting a race will reveal you the Legendary available to it and what each does. Selecting the Artifact will then equip it if you have it and then close the menu (similar to picking a race). Here's an example screen of someone who owns two Undead Scourge Legendaries(notice the third is greyed out because he doesn't have it -- if he had a Shard then the text would be red and selecting it would consume the shard and unlock it for him).

    Spoiler

    cENj84l.png

pls note that actual legendaries may be stronger or weaker than listed ones, these are merely examples. some possible legendaries could even change ultimates!

I like the system for two reasons. One: It adds another layer of depth into the game, something else to strive for when killing people. Currently, the two things players can obtain by playing the game are server rank and levels -- this adds another reward system to constantly fuel that desire for dopamine.

Two: The system will certainly add a small level of powercreep but will be a great way to finetune older races into importance and we'll finally see some races being played again. Additionally, it adds a small level of customization into the game. Our diehard Trickster Assassin or Shadow Lurker fans can choose which route they want to specialize in to suit their playstyles.

The shard system also allows additional p a y 2 w i n options in addition to our current ones. Supporters can have an increased drop rate for legendaries. Players could also flatout buy Shards, similar to buying credits for other our pay2win servers like JB and ZE. We're gonna be rich.

Please share thoughts! I was excited to work on the system myself but wanted to create a race first in order to prove to myself that I could code. I'm busy & putting it off for now but if anyone wants to start refining/working on this (if greenlit by Engies), go right ahead. We could also have a War3 event to kickstart the system with increased drop rates for the duration of the event. Events are always fun.

  11. Tbh creating a notable character from the universe will simply be a combination of races and abilities and I dunno if we want that. For example, Muradin Bronzebeard would simply be Human Alliance with Orc's Reincarnate ability instead of invisibility. IDEK what his ultimate would be, since all the dwarven heroes in Warcraft 3 had the same thing ult, Avatar, and it's not relatable to him at all. Even in the games, each character is simply a beefed up unit of a class (Uther is simply a Paladin in Warcraft 3, Arthas is simply a skinned Paladin and later Deathknight, Jaina is simply another mage in a WoW instance). Honestly I just roleplay as Lord Garithos from Warcraft3 whenever I play and scorn anyone who's not a Human Alliance. I do think you're right about our server becoming less of a Warcraft server and more of a Superhero server though. I'm just waiting for a Morpheus race with skinned dual mp7s tbh.

In a similar vein, when I was in my coding mood I came up with a few ideas that I wanted to propose to our engies but wanted to fully refine them before doing so: "hero races" was one of them, where they were limited to one hero per team, accessible at any level, beefy and easy to kill with/lots of skills (though not totally broken of course). The idea was to help newbies out or anyone having a bad game and playing one required a bad KD/less team round wins and/or playtime was limited to a few rounds per map. Idea requires refining like I said but it's been a while since I've been in that coding mood so it's on the backburner.

  12. Oh boy we're populating Rust!..... aaaand we have 2/75 players FeelsBadMan =[ I was genuinely excited cause I forgot about wipe day being today and just got home.
