What are strafehacks and what to look for

So i'm not that great at formatting but i though I would add to this by showing some examples and what to look for. This won't cover every type of cheat, just the ones that you are more likely to see on bhop servers. If you have any questions feel free to ask me and if you want to add something to this post go ahead.

 

TERMS:

Silent Strafes: Strafing without sending any key presses or mouse movements to the server.
Strafe Hacks: This can be a pretty general term, but is mostly referring to 1 tick autostrafe.

Macro: This is a cheap script that spams jump/spacebar, usually made by keyboard/mouse gaming software.

Hyperscroll: A lot of gaming mice will let players "unlock" their mousewheel so that the mousewheel spins freely.

Optimizer: An optimizer sets your horizontal viewangle to whatever will gain max speed.

Gains: The percentage of speed gained over the total possible speed gained.

Efficiency: Distanced achieved over the total possible distance.

Sync: The percentage of the total time spent in the air where the players’ keyboard presses matched their mouse movement.

SSJ: Speed of Sixth Jump (also known as sixth jump speed).

Perfect Bhop: If a player jumps the same tick as he lands it is considered a perfect bhop.

Strafe Trainer: oEwtOSM.png Shows a player their real time gains.


1 TICK AUTOSTRAFE:

This is probably the most common type of strafehack you'll find on the server. The key characteristics of this type of hack is that their gains and efficiency are both perfect. A 1-tick autostrafe/strafehack can be silent, but isn't always, If it's silent then you won't see any inputs from the client. If it's not then you'll see their movement keys flickering in your hud. Strafe trainer should show 100.

Bhop also has a style called strafehacks which does the same thing.

 

 

OPTIMIZER:

At first glance it will look like just normal strafing for spectators, But the ssj stats show otherwise. This one gives players perfect strafes, both sync and gains will be perfect. Looking at the strafe trainer you should see a perfect 100 with little to no fluctuations. These usually aren't silent.

 

BHOP SCRIPTS:

Since these are so similiar i'm putting them in a single category. The bhop server has a tool to check players perfect bhops, and even works when players have autobhop on, this command is called sm_bhopcheck @all. It's set up to ban and log on it's own but can be used to check a players stats if you are suspicious.

 

Let's look at what bhopcheck will print out when you check a players stats:

Flagged: X  - Whether or not the server has flagged this player for scripting or not (on bhop it should always be 0).

Perf: XX.X - Perfect jump ratio, out of the X amount of bhops how many of them were considered perfect.

Avg: XX.X  / YYY.Y - The XX.X is the average amount of +jump inputs. YYY.Y is the average speed the player is moving.

ZZZ<#><STEAM_X:X:XXXXXXXX> - Z is the players name, # is the client id, and STEAM_X:X:XXXXXXXX is the steam id

Map: XXX - Current map, useful if player ends up getting any times.

Last: # # #... - This is the players scroll count for each jump. Players using spacebar will show up as 1's. mousewheel tends to range from 6 to 11. When players hold space it won't update the the results, since no new inputs were sent.

Let's look at what bhopcheck will print out for a macro user.
 The first thing you'll notice is the near perfect string of 24's for his last scroll pattern. While 24 tends to be common for macros, it can be any number with the usual range being 17 - 36.

While macro's and hyperscroll's both have high scroll patterns the key difference will be how sporadic they are.

Looking at this example you can see the player was landing an average of 90 percent of his bhops while only sending a single +jump everytime he jumped.
