    Stepping Down

With recent events in my life I have no time to play games besides maybe 30 minutes a day let alone manage a rust server, Next week I start college on top of a full-time job and currently dealing with a massive load of family issues which is taking a lot of my time as well, I really waited it out to see if I'd have availability to help run the server and I sadly don't. I wanna say thanks to everyone who helped me with Rust and helped me in general just by being an open ear and talking to me about problems, sG has always been a place to get away from the real world and more recently a place to discuss my life issues with close friends who are always there to listen to my shit. I'm glad for all the memories I've made here with every single one of you. Vexer for legend or ro

    R&R Changes - August 2019

As we reflect on the current and ongoing changes to our community, we must continuously evolve the way we accept and promote new members to our community. Previously member discussions were held on our forums and since the inception of the sG Discord it was clear that most (if not all) discussions have moved to the plethora of channels we currently have in our Discord server. It is clear that members utilize our Discord for its convenience for discussion. We are content that our Discord server is alive and well with the activity that takes place. You have likely noticed our community servers have taken a big dip in population and activity (similar to most CS:GO communities). Currently we rely on our recruits and members to play on sG servers to increase their hours for acceptance into the community or to promote their rank. Since CS:GO Custom Servers have become less popular for members in our community to play in their free time, we must also update our R&R model to reflect these changes. We still have a few popular niche servers with Surf and Bhop growing everyday. Shoutout to Kid Fearless, Daniel and Zebra for continuously working hard on those servers to maintain a steady population. However we can no longer expect our members to consistently play on all of our servers. It has become increasingly clear that our members enjoy playing other games than CS:GO with members and we look to still capitalize on that for our community. Our community was built on members playing games with each other and we want that to continue rather than see our community activity fizzle out. We need to find a way to encourage growth and welcome new members. With the combination of Discord being used more frequently and with CS:GO Custom Servers becoming less and less popular, I'm sure you can see how our current Recruitment and Ranks model will have to adapt and change for newer members to continue to rank up. Most of our senior members would be able to rank up in our current model but we need to focus on new members of our community for it to continue to strive. Staff took a vote and we agreed that removing server hour and post requirements would be a positive way to evolve. Recruits and members would still need to be active enough in order to be known in the community, whether that's through conversations on Discord or some remaining activity on our servers. Members will still need to get the votes required to get their rank and in order to do so they will need to be active within our community. We continue to encourage members to vote on applications or refer new recruits as that will be the main way a recruit/member gets accepted. As well we stress that you should only vote yes if you feel the applicant deserves their new rank or if they have been active enough to receive it. The following changes to be put in place are more welcoming and less daunting for new members who want to become a member of sG and for those that would like to rank up in our community. These changes, just as any other changes, are far from permanent. If another game comes out where we can see consistent activity and population on custom community servers, we will continue to update our R&R model to reflect that. Now with all that being said, we are also planning to roll out more incentives for being a member of Syndicate Gamers. Stay tuned for more details regarding small raffles that will be held on a monthly basis. Please see all changes below which will be in effect starting on September 1st, 2019. ZE Possible Fixes

I know I haven’t played here in a long time (nor do I intend to return), but since I have been playing on other communities, I have learned some stuff that might help to improve sG ZE (assuming there are still active staff for it). Lag Obviously there is way to remove lag completely without just getting flat out better hardware, but there are some things that have been proven to be laggy on other servers that may help to change. 1. Player hitboxes Many other ze servers only have hitboxes in the feet of their human models so that the server doesn’t have to calculate hit penetration through players to hit zombies (since the sourcemod plugin, while nice, is inherently laggy). You don't have to worry about zombies being able to knife CTs if you remove the CT hitbox, since the knife's hit detection doesn't use the bullets' hitboxes. If you don’t want to edit the models you already have on the server, you can just steal some from others communities, such as GFL, since all of their CT models have the hitboxes changed. This is also why their default CT model is not the default csgo models, but rather a custom model. In addition to this, some maps such as ze_space_flight, ze_minecraft_adventure, and a few others change the default model to one included with the map. Typically these map models are unoptimized, and, as such, should be removed. They can be disabled using either just a stripper config, or a stripper config + custom vscript combo. Here is an example of a stripper to remove it on ze_space_flight as a reference: Stripper: https://github.com/gflclan-cs-go-ze/ZE-Configs/blob/master/stripper/ze_space_flight_p3.cfg Vscript for use with the stripper: https://github.com/gflclan-cs-go-ze/ZE-Configs/blob/master/vscripts/EnforcePlayerModel_patched.nut The fix would depend on the map in question, so only use the above links as refence on how to fix it, not as an actual fix to everything. 2. Plugins Some plugins, albeit nice to have, are quiet laggy. It is up to any staff to decide if the usefulness of a plugin outweighs its cpu cost and whether to remove it or not. I have heard that some especially laggy plugins are the player hide plugin, the timer plugin (which checks chat messages for certain keywords such as sec, seconds, etc. and then puts a timer with that message into a game_text entity that counts down), and some anti cheat plugins. 3. Maps This is going to be on a map by map basis. There are some large offenders like malgo reactor that honestly shouldn’t be on any server due to being terribly optimized, but others just have certain parts that cause lag (such as how ze_games, ze_tloz_stone_tower_temple, and a few others). This small laggy section could be something as small as making all the players spawn on a single point during the freeze time before a round starts (since 20+ people stacking on each other is quite laggy on the ze server), and simply adding more locations for players to be while frozen via the use of a stripper would solve this. LDR Compiled maps If a map is compiled in LDR lightning, remove it from the server. LDR compiled maps can, and often do, randomly crash clients either on joining the map or switching off of it. Since this bug was discovered, many maps have been recompiled in HDR to help prevent this. All LDR compiled maps should be either updated or completely removed (if they haven’t been updated). In addition, you should take care to check the compiled settings of any new maps added to make sure they are all HDR compiled. You can either look at map lists of other servers that keep LDR maps off them or use bspsrc on a map by map basis to check compile settings for this. Fixing Broken Parts of Maps Already on the Server If there are bugs in any maps on the server, you don’t need to wait for the mapper to fix them or to compile new versions on your own. The server has BAILOPAN’s stripper plugin so you can edit the maps yourselves to fix these bugs. While there are limitations on what a stripper can do, as long as you are dealing with entities and not brushes, you should be able to change anything on the map. Hell, even if you want to add brushes to block off skips or exploits, you can use the reuse the model of a trigger and turn it into a func_brush to block it off. Something a stripper can’t fix though, is when a map has badly packed its particles or improperly named them. Maps like these should be straight up removed and the mapper should be told how to fix their particles (More on the particle crashing: https://rafuron.wordpress.com/2015/03/04/how-can-mappers-help-to-prevent-the-infamous-particle-crash/). Strippers aren’t even difficult to make; as long as you know how to map, you can make a stripper config. If you want to learn how to make a stripper, here is the documentation for the plugin: http://bailopan.net/stripper/ However, even if you don’t want to make strippers, many other communities have some of their strippers publicly available. Just use theirs if you don’t have the fix for a certain map (just be careful because some strippers might add or change entities based on a file/model the server itself has in the fastdl, so in these cases you would either have to edit that or add the file to your own fastdl). In addition to these, certain maps have official strippers out that were published by the mappers to fix some bugs, such as santassination. GFL’s Strippers and EntWatch Files: https://github.com/gflclan-cs-go-ze/ZE-Configs Mapeadores’s Strippers: https://github.com/Mapeadores/stripper-cfgs A few of Steam Gamers’s strippers: https://github.com/AgentWesker/maps Not sure how much this will actually help your server or if there is even a point in fixing a dead server, but here is some info if you want to use it.

You're going to be really glad that you can focus on EMT class, cause it takes up a really long time. When I took it, it was at least 16 hours a week in class plus studying for the practicals, studying for the written, and doing homework. Then you have to worry about the ride time, etc. If you need help with anything you can always text me, I wouldn't mind brushing up on my knowledge

This post ruined my day. However, there is more to life than spending a vast majority of your day gaming. I hope life will treat you well and that you will find happiness along the way! Thanks for being a long-endeavored member to the clan.

6th Annual JoinSG Fantasy Football League

https://forms.gle/AGLUh14fCZGMD1iaA I've made a new form here, now people can put either day and what time is best to draft. The votes were pretty split on the last form for draft day and since I know some people can do either I remade the form. Will need email address to fill out form, I will send the league invites to the email address if you are not currently in the league. Plan to have all invites sent out this week in case we draft next sunday.

    Suh, general update

Hey guys, just wanted to give an update. I haven't been very active because I've been very busy with a couple different things: I graduated from high school and community college this year because of a program, which has taken a lot of time. I also managed to complete my Basic EMT certification and am now certified in my state. Along with that, in my technical school I did SkillsUSA again and won 1st place in medical terminology and will be competing in that national competition in Kentucky. I'm going on to a 4-year college for a Bachelor's in Biology, and working in my college EMS squad! I've also been on T for about 5 months and made some progress transitioning, thanks to everyone who has shown me support over the years. It's been 3 years now in sG (joined the forums in 2016) and I've finally gotten L4! Tbh that's always been something I wanted and I appreciate everyone who voted on that application. I've been SO and Staff here and there and I wish I had the time now to keep contributing. The many people I've met from sG have been helpful in many different ways, including helping me apply to college (Mimic), giving me helpful advice (Narwhals, Mimic, Lindsay, Rune, many others), and even Chosen helping me with class a while back. While there have been some bumps in the road here and there, I think that over the past 3 years sG has been awesome and I'm a different person than I was when I first applied and barely got in. I'll try and pop in every once and a while for tournaments and to the servers, but if anyone has wondered where I've been, here's the answer. Tl:dr: School stuff has kept me busy, you guys are p cool, and I'll probably be around for tournaments
