Ymir Game Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

"Ymir is a 4X multiplayer strategy game combined with a city builder where each player develops a civilization of pigmen starting at the stone age."

A list of features:

- City building with different types of buildings

- Diplomacy screen with many options

- Complex economies and trading

- Unique terrains with many different benefits

- Wide variety of resources and resource management

- Social classes where having too many poverty-stricken people can cause rebellions

- A world of people to interact with ("The current objective is a max 100 players per server on persistent mode")

- Large tech tree with technologies that you actually have to discover

- Random events for cities, civilians, military, and whole nations

- ... and more!

Personally, I'm ready to dig in on the 15th. I love games like these, and Ymir is really scratching that itch I've had for a new game I can dump some hours into. Tell me what you think about the game, will anyone else be playing it when it's available on Steam? With these types of games, the possibilities are endless. You can run an empire that spans the continent, or a humble kingdom; be a peaceful diplomat, or a dangerous warlord.

May the best pigman win.

Looks like a mobile game that is designed to make you wait for stuff to finish building or pay a dollar to complete it instantly.

Things do take a while to build on a persistent world, but except for buying the game, there's nothing else to throw money at except for the developer's patreon.

It looks pretty sick. Might put some hours into it

Hope I'll see you in-game!

Looks extremely ambitious, unsure if it is my cup of tea.

Looks like a mixture of CIV and Age of Empires, with a touch of mobile style gameplay like beerman mentioned.

We'll see what happens.

It's very ambitious, for sure. Luckily it's releasing on Steam, meaning that the game can be refunded before 2 hours total playtime in case it turns out to be a game you don't like.
